Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) to hold three days of training in October

Wayne County residents are invited to register for the free CERT Disaster Preparedness Course. Students enrolled in this course learn disaster preparedness, fire safety, light search and rescue, disaster psychology, terrorism, and more. The three-day course is designed to provide the basic skills needed in major disaster, which increases the ability people to survive until first responders or other assistance arrives.

Memorial Day Parade

The annual Memorial Day Parade will be held on Sunday, May 20th, 2018 at 1:00 pm. The parade will proceed South Bound on North Bound Fort Street (M-85) for White Street to Merrill.  North bound Fort Street traffic will be diverted east bound on Pagel Avenue to Ferris Street to Southfield Road.  No parking will be allowed on Pagel, Merrill, Steward, Park, White, Electric, and Ferris Streets from 8:00 am Sunday, May 20th until the parade is concluded.

Lincoln Park CERT to Offer Three Day Disaster Preparedness Course

LINCOLN PARK, MI — In the early minutes, hours and possibly days of these disasters, professional emergency responders may not be able to reach all citizens due to the number of emergency situations or road conditions.    Lincoln Park CERT’s mission is to train people to respond during disaster situations when professional responders may be overwhelmed by a large number of calls.  Wayne County residents are invited to register for the free CERT Disaster Preparedness Course.  Students enrolled in this course learn disaster preparedness, fire safety, light search and rescue, disaster psychology, terrorism, and more. Basic Disaster Supply Kit

A disaster supplies kit is simply a collection of basic items your household may need in the event of an emergency.

Try to assemble your kit well in advance of an emergency. You may have to evacuate at a moment’s notice and take essentials with you. You will probably not have time to search for the supplies you need or shop for them.

You may need to survive on your own after an emergency. This means having your own food, water and other supplies in sufficient quantity to last for at least 72 hours. Local officials and relief workers will be on the scene after a disaster but they cannot reach everyone immediately. You could get help in hours or it might take days.
