Thank You

CERT is about readiness, helping people, and rescuer safetyThank you for your interest in Lincoln Park’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program basic training course.   This training course is offered at no charge, and we schedule the course based on amount of community interest. While membership in CERT is optional, the Basic Training Course is required and a background investigation before you can become a member of the program.

We are proud of our program, and as an organization we provide the assistance to the City of Lincoln Park with various events that are held throughout the city, such as the Memorial Day Parade and Lincoln Park Days.  Also,  our organization can be called upon by the Lincoln Park Fire Department to assist with a variety of task such as down power lines,  traffic control, etc.

Below,  we have included a link to the “Introduction to CERT” online course; this course is optional but it provides an introduction to the CERT program.  We have, also, include links to the manual that we will use during the course.

Again,  Thanks for your interest in our basic training course

Thanks,

Austin Carroll CERT Commander  | Lincoln Park CERT

FEMA IS-317: Introduction to CERT (On-line)

Introduction to Community Emergency Response Teams,” IS-317, is an independent study course that serves as an introduction to CERT for those wanting to complete training or as a refresher for current team members. It has six modules with topics that include an Introduction to CERT, Fire Safety, Hazardous Material and Terrorist Incidents, Disaster Medical Operations and Search and Rescue. It takes between six and eight hours to complete the course. Those who successfully finish it will receive a certificate of completion.

IS-317 can be taken by anyone interested in CERT. However, to become a CERT volunteer, one must complete the classroom training offered by a local government agency such as the emergency management agency, fire or police department. Contact your local emergency manager to learn about the local education and training opportunities available to you. Let this person know about your interest in taking CERT training.
